World Breastfeeding Week 2025

As August arrives each year, so does one of my most cherished traditions: my annual breastfeeding photoshoot in honor of World Breastfeeding Week. This year marks my 8th year capturing these powerful, intimate moments — and each year, I’m reminded just how profound and important this work is.

World Breastfeeding Week is more than a calendar event. It’s a time to raise awareness, offer support, and celebrate the journey of nurturing — in all its messy, tender, and transformative beauty. For me, it’s also about building community. These sessions bring together mothers who may never have met otherwise, and they leave not only with beautiful photos, but also with shared stories, solidarity, and often, new friendships.

Each photograph is a time capsule — a frozen frame of a moment that is all too fleeting. The nursing years can feel long in the day-to-day, but looking back, they’re heartbreakingly brief. Capturing those quiet snuggles, sleepy smiles, and tiny fingers tangled in hair allows families to hold on to the essence of these early years — the love, the sacrifice, the connection.

Over the past eight years, I’ve had the honor of photographing many families during this special week. What strikes me most is not just the beauty of each image, but the strength and resilience behind every story. From first-time moms learning to latch, to seasoned parents tandem nursing toddlers, every journey is unique — and every one deserves to be seen, honored, and celebrated.

Breastfeeding is not just about nourishment; it’s about comfort, bonding, and trust. It’s a relationship — dynamic, evolving, and deeply human. And while no two journeys look alike, there’s an undeniable magic in the way each mother and child connect in those quiet moments. It’s that magic I try to capture every time I lift my camera.

So here’s to year eight — to the families who return year after year, to the new faces joining us, and to the beautiful community we've built together. Let’s continue to celebrate this sacred season, not just during World Breastfeeding Week, but every day that we’re blessed to hold them close.

With love and gratitude,
